Small business owners across all industries share a common challenge: constantly solving problems. Each day brings new hurdles, including adapting to evolving customer needs, managing supply chain issues, and keeping up with regulatory and policy changes. These regulatory and policy changes are ongoing and can greatly impact small businesses. However, by working together, we can discover strategies to succeed despite these challenges.
It’s so important for small business owners to band together. By sharing information, resources, and experiences, we can better understand new regulations, advocate for fair policies, and support one another through periods of uncertainty. A united small business community has a stronger voice, greater resilience, and a better chance of growing in a changing environment.

Small Business. Big Voice.
I’m proud to be a graduate of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses and a member of the Voices community. I also have the honor of serving on the Voices National Advocacy Advisory Board. The Voices Program helps small business owners advocate for policies that support their businesses, employees, and communities. Participating in this program has enabled me to attend Summits on Capitol Hill and engage with policymakers and media outlets I would not otherwise have access to.
The October 2025 Summit served as a platform to share our collective priorities and viewpoints on relevant policy issues:
Small business owners are particularly focused on workforce and competitiveness challenges, primarily related to hiring and retention. In a competitive labor market, small business owners often compete with larger firms that offer higher pay and better benefits. To stay competitive and improve employee retention, many small business owners emphasize employee growth, provide clear career opportunities, and foster a supportive, flexible environment where staff feel appreciated and see a future with the company.
When employees connect with the mission and receive support in their roles, they tend to stay longer, strengthening employee retention and benefiting both the business and the community.
Growing Roots Empowers Our Employees: Value, Respect, and Support
I believe that when my team members feel supported, they can do their best work. That’s why I invest in ongoing training and hands-on learning opportunities to help every employee deepen their plant care knowledge and advance their careers. From day one, new hires are paired with experienced team members who provide guidance on plant health, styling, maintenance, and customer service.

Creating a warm, welcoming space where everyone feels comfortable asking questions and sharing their ideas is important to me. Regular check-ins and access to expert resources help ensure every employee feels confident and well-equipped to address a range of indoor plant needs. A workplace that values learning, respect, and support enables the Growing Roots team to achieve outstanding results for clients and take pride in the spaces they help improve.
How Growing Roots Supports Businesses of All Sizes
and Their Employees
Research indicates that employees in spaces featuring biophilic elements tend to report higher job satisfaction, better concentration, and improved mental health. Emphasizing the benefits of biophilic design not only improves employee health and happiness but also contributes to greater organizational success.
Furthermore, investing in professional plant care services can positively influence your business’s bottom line. The presence of plants can enhance the overall customer experience. Whether through reduced noise levels or improved air quality, plants create an inviting atmosphere that encourages engagement and interaction. Businesses that invest in professional plant care services are not just investing in their workspace; they are investing in an enhanced client experience, which can lead to increased loyalty and business opportunities.
Strategies Small Business Owners Can Use to Support Their Local Community
From everyday interactions to bigger initiatives, small business owners have wonderful opportunities to support, connect with, and invest in their communities.
Beyond providing plant care services, I aim to support other businesses through collaboration and increased visibility. If you read my newsletter, you’ll see that I feature my clients and the Growing Roots team, highlighting their stories, services, or upcoming events. By sharing their work (and linking to their website) with my audience, I help them reach new customers, build credibility, and strengthen their presence in the community. My goal is to create a network where local businesses can grow together, connect with like-minded partners, and gain the public exposure they deserve.

Community Giving
One of our favorite forms of local community outreach is through pot-a-plant events, where we share our knowledge on proper indoor plant care and show how easy it is to connect with nature. We’ve sponsored similar engagements at local community events and raised funds for environmental initiatives. Growing Roots is also a proud business sponsor of several local schools.
Another way Growing Roots consistently helps our community is by supporting local charities. For every new client, we donate $100 on their behalf to a local charity of their choice.
When we collaborate and share visibility, we help each other’s businesses thrive and also build a closer-knit, more supportive community of local small businesses.
Ultimately, it’s about us growing together and supporting each other every step of the way!
